A "Grand Farewell" to Black Oak Ranch…
On September 17-19, Chris Deckker and the Earthdance NORCAL Community bid their 'grand farewell' to the Black Oak Ranch in Laytonville, CA, drawing over 7000 individuals to the site. A bittersweet move from the beautiful land that has incubated the ever-popular Earthdance HUB event for over a decade, next year's event be at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, within easy reach to the whole Bay Area and cities beyond. In light of concerns voiced by veteran NORCAL Earthdancers, Chris shares an upbeat vision for what is in store for Earthdance 2011 in a letter to the community:
"Overall, we are excited to bring Earthdance closer to the Bay Area while maintaining our ambiance from The Black Oak Ranch. Yes, it is true that we will be leaving behind some incredible memories and a wonderful site, but we will be taking the creative spirit and intention that has created Earthdance Northern California to our new location . . ."~ Earthdance Founder and Laytonville Producer Chris Deckker
Earthdance for Peace and Local Communities
In coordination with the grass roots Boulder non-profit "Conscious Alliance." Earthdance Laytonville hosted a special food drive this year to support local communities in need. All food donations benefited a local area food bank. To promote the food drive, the event producer Chris Deckker agreed to provide a free limited edition, Earthdance poster created by recognized artist Amanda Sage to all patrons who donated 10 non-perishable food items.
Local Charity Impact
Conscious Alliance is a Boulder, Colorado based national 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization committed to the redistribution of much-needed food to the impoverished communities of the United States. Operating through ongoing, grassroots food collection and hunger awareness programs throughout the U.S. – mostly by organizing food drives at concerts and sporting events -- Conscious Alliance donations directly benefit America's local food pantries and impoverished Native American reservations. Since their first event in 2002, Conscious Alliance has hosted hundreds of food drives at music festivals. www.consciousalliance.org
